It was starting to look like rain at this point so I stayed in the camper doing my thing and Geoff rushed off. He came back very soon after and told me that nothing other than the marathon was on at the circuit but he had found the musee du Le Mans and had come back to get his flash. So sorry boys more car photos today I presume!
We then drove into Le Mans to the Cathedral and old town area and there was just cars and people everywhere??!! We found a park and wandered off to see what was going on – it appears there was some garden festival on – lots of stalls selling plants etc. Unfortunately all the people and the fact that it was drizzling ruined our photos and probably our perspective on Le Mans as it did in fact seem quite a picturesque place.
We headed for Mont-St-Michael only two hours away so an eta of 7.00pm. It also would have been a lovely drive – very nice houses en route – but the rain ruined it. To top it all off I got us lost trying to find the camp I had selected. I think we missed a motorway turnoff and ended up too far the other way and then when we came back we missed another road. I wish I could tell the GPS a road to go to but alas Tom doesn’t operate like that.
Finally at about 7.45pm we found the camp – it was now dark and raining a lot heavier. I checked in and paid the money and then went to park. However the camp sites are too soft for a camper and (in French) the lady at check in I think had explained to me to leave the camper half parked on the road??!! Anyway we have paid for electricity tonight but cannot park anywhere we can reach it! At least we may get a hot shower in the morning.
